bio: Alora is the good child. The Emerys are a very rich family where the parents are most often away on vacation or business trips and the raising of children was left up to a live-in Nanny.
As a child, Alora dealt with her parents' absence by learning as much as she could about the places they were supposed to be visiting. Her quest for knowledge continued, and she very quickly discovered a talent for picking up languages and cultural nuances... along with anything else she set her mind to. Very studious and business-inclined, Alora, though the middle child, is the handpicked choice to take over the family businesses when her father retires. She has a strong conscience and finds it very hard to do anything but the right thing in any situation.
Though she's not opposed to having a good time, she often bypasses time hanging out in favor of a good book or delving into one more secret of the universe.

Alora's a witch, plain and simple - though it comes from a pure ability to "understand". Her ability to pick up other languages comes in very handy, since her powers come mainly from spells she picks out of ancient texts in foreign (otherworld kind of foreign) languages. If she can find a spell for it, decode it and read/memorize it, she can perform it. For Alora, these caveats aren't very limiting. The most defining limit to her power is the need for her to recite the spells aloud.
She does have the ability to augment certain spells with 'potions' or natural suppliments, though she doesn't - by any stretch of the imagination - participate in anything that could be considered dark arts. Her spells and abilities get stronger and more durable with practice, but her specialties included levitation, illumination, and invisible force... particularly forcefields and forcewaves.
