The Emerys are a very rich family where the parents are most often away on vacation or business trips and the raising of children was left up to a live-in Nanny.
Lee, herself, is not slow, but she is very naive and unworldly and often comes across as even younger than she is. Though she's very nice and caring, the whole sheltering effect of her rich and loving family made her a bit spoiled, in that she almost expects to get everything she wants. She also has some difficulty in social situations due to her powers and upbringing.
On the other hand, she absolutely adores her brother and sister's friends, and becomes a part of the group by association. She loves them all as a part of her family, but that doesn't stop her from harboring a bit of puppy love for the guys - or a bit of jealousy of the girls as they all start pairing off - but she adjusts fairly easily and, like Joe, she eventually realizes that it's kind of fun to be herself, apart from the group's associations.

Lee's an energy channeller. She's like a universal power source, but she's also a rechargeable battery. Lee can regenerate and store an amazing amount of energy, but the more she has the harder it is to contain and the more hyper she gets as a means to expel the excess energy. Otherwise, she can convert and expel it as any kind of energy there is: static, electric, kinetic, healing, whatever. Her favorite use is as healing energy - chi - and she works after school as a candy striper in the hospital.
The only problem is that she does have a point at which she needs to lay off and recharge, and just like she's hyper with lots of energy, she gets sluggish with less and eventually will just collapse into sleep or a coma (extreme) on the spot. Soooo she has to carefully monitor her power levels, much like a diabetic has to monitor sugar levels.
